Event Description:
The Bullhead City Council will hold an executive session at 3PM for advice from City Attorney Garn Emery regarding "the potential legal effect" of Initiative No. 114-03 - The Contract for Prosperity.
Executive sessions are NOT open to the public.
The organization We Love Bullhead City recently gathered 730 signatures to place the initiative on the November 4 ballot. If approved by voters, the initiative would limit the amount of revenue the city can raise. If the city wants more revenue through raising fees, it would need approval of two-thirds of the voters.
The measure has been endorsed by endorsed by Dr. Byron Schlomach, an economist and director of the Center for Economic Prosperity at the Goldwater Institute, and John Coupal, Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association president. Both taxpayer watchdog organizations say the measure would encourage economic growth.
The League of Arizona Cities and Towns, of which the city of Bullhead City is a member opposes the measure.
