Name: National Public Lands Day Celebration
Date: September 27, 2014
Event Description:
National Public Lands Day will be held this Saturday, September 27 at the Colorado River Nature Center from 9 am to Noon. This event is a joint effort hosted by the City of Bullhead, Arizona Game and Fish, Bureau of Land Management and the Friends of the Nature Center.

The Nature Center is a 500 acre wildlife area located at the west end of Richardo Avenue in Bullhead City. National Public Lands Day is observed nationally and in honor of this we are inviting the public to come out to the Nature Center and explore the solitude, boating, fishing, picnicking, and wildlife viewing.

Be one of the first to experience the new one mile hard surface trail by joining in the walking tour scheduled at 9:30 a.m. or venture out on your own. There are also several other nature trails that will take you throughout the Nature Center.

Free t-shirts will be given out while supplies last. There will also be informational booths and activities like bird watching, 3-D archery, Geocaching for kids, make a snake bracelet or decorate a bird house, archaeology touch display, interactive booths, nature and history presentations, and a kayak trip from Rotary Park to the beaches of the Nature Center.

Kayak trip will leave from the Don Sullivan Memorial Park located in Rotary Park at 9 am.  Registration for the trip will begin at 8:30 am.  The cost is $10.00 per person and any funds collected will be donated to the Friends of the Nature Center group for improvements and upkeep of the Nature Center. Desert River Kayak will provide each participant a kayak, paddles and life jacket for the float.
