Target Audience: Beneficial for foster parents, social workers, juvenile probation officers, mental health service providers and other community professionals who work directly with trauma-exposed youth.
This workshop will help service providers to identify ways to include trauma-exposed youth in the decision-making process for developing interventions and identifying appropriate services. Including youth the decision-making process pertaining to their individual case plan will increase compliance rates, increase protective factors, and improve outcomes for trauma-exposed youth. The workshop will address four areas: Trauma and delinquency; Trauma and case planning; Client Voice; and “System-induced” Trauma.

- Participants will understand trauma’s impact on development.
- Participants will understand the relationship between trauma and delinquency.
- Participants will view non-compliance issues through a trauma lens.
- Participants will identify ways to remove barriers to case plan compliance.
- Participants will understand the role of client voice in the decision-making process.
- Participants will be able to identify and reduce system-induced traumatic experiences by clients.
- Participants will be able to draft trauma-informed case plans.
