Event Description:
The goal of Trauma Informed Training is to improve the quality of services for individuals who have experienced trauma by increasing the trauma-related knowledge and skills of direct care personnel that are responsible for engaging and retaining individuals in services and providing the support and care these individuals require. Class is limited to 30 participants. Specific objectives include: Direct care personnel will have increased knowledge regarding trauma, chronic trauma, and complex trauma and their impact on child/adolescent growth and development; Direct care personnel will understand adolescent high-risk behaviors in the context of trauma; Direct care personnel will understand how the ARC model (Attachment, Regulation and Skill Competency) and how it can be used as a framework for youth services; Direct care personnel will develop skills to help youth learn to self-regulate; Direct care personnel will understand the difference between punishment and consequences; Direct care personnel will understand secondary trauma and recognize the importance of self-care.
